Due to the deterioration of the security situation in some regions of Mexico, the embassy in that country has appealed to Azerbaijani citizens.
Modern.az reports that the relevant appeal was shared on the embassy's "X" social media account.
The post states that citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan visiting or temporarily residing in Mexico are advised to carefully monitor and strictly adhere to the security recommendations issued by local government agencies in the state of Jalisco, as well as in the neighboring states of Michoacán, Guanajuato, Colima, Aguascalientes, Zacatecas, and Nayarit.
“Our citizens are requested to be vigilant, observe personal safety rules, stay away from mass gatherings and risky areas, and also monitor information published only from official sources”, the post states.
It should be noted that Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, known as "El Mencho", leader of the “Jalisco New Generation” cartel, one of Mexico's largest criminal groups, was killed as a result of a military operation. After the operation, members of the group set fire to numerous vehicles in Jalisco and other states. Clashes occurred between security forces and cartel members.
