Regarding Ramiz Anvar oglu Mehdiyev, whose preliminary investigation is ongoing by the State Security Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan and against whom a house arrest pre-trial detention measure has been chosen, the Academy has issued several official statements to the public concerning the issue of his expulsion from the full membership of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences. The leadership of the Academy once again strongly condemns the actions committed by Ramiz Anvar oglu Mehdiyev against the state and declares them unforgivable.
It should be noted that the issue of Ramiz Mehdiyev's expulsion from the full membership of the Academy will be resolved in compliance with the requirements of the current legislation. Thus, if his guilt regarding the charges brought against him is confirmed by a court verdict, the matter will be submitted for discussion to the members of the General Assembly of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, and an appropriate decision will be made.
The Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences once again emphasizes that it is guided by the rule of law, the principles of legality, and the transparency of legal procedures as fundamental in its activities.
