This year, two higher education institutions in Azerbaijan may be transformed into research universities.
Modern.az reports that this was stated by Firudin Gurbanov, Deputy Minister of Science and Education, during his speech at the General Assembly of AMEA.
He noted that technologies are currently developing, and this development continues in Azerbaijan as well.
The Deputy Minister noted that significant tasks lie ahead for the Ministry of Science and Education within the framework of these processes:
"Azerbaijani students receive education at prestigious universities worldwide. Education, science, and production must be integrated. Reforms in this direction were launched at the ministry in 2024. Currently, 15 institutions operate under the ministry."
F. Gurbanov noted that steps have been taken to strengthen ties between education and innovation, and to transform universities into research universities.
"This year, two universities in Azerbaijan may be transformed into research universities," he concluded.
