Although tour operator and travel agent relations are stipulated in legislation, it is important to regulate the implementation of these relations with a real control mechanism. It should be ensured that tour operators do not sell directly to customers, and at the same time, the responsibility for any incident that may occur during a tour should be more clearly established with the tour operator. Furthermore, it is advisable for travel agents not to engage in tour operator activities, but rather to carry out the sale of tourism products prepared by tour operators.
Modern.az reports that this was stated by MP Göydəniz Qəhrəmanlı at the public hearing of the Milli Majlis Committee on Labor and Social Policy on the topic “Current situation and development prospects of tourism in Azerbaijan”.
He noted that this approach will serve to protect healthy competition and distribute responsibility in the tourism sector.
"I would also like to touch upon the issue of guides. It is considered appropriate for certification to be carried out on a mandatory basis, not voluntarily, and for guiding activities to be granted only to citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan. This would serve both to protect national interests and to ensure the quality and reliability of information provided to tourists. At the same time, it is important for entities engaged in excursion activities to adhere to a unified excursion text and standards.
To prevent undesirable incidents and abuses in the tourism sector, it is necessary for tourism companies to be registered in the state register on a mandatory, not voluntary, basis. The register stipulated in the Law on Tourism will further strengthen the protection of consumer rights in the tourism market.
The creation of special parking spaces for tourist transport vehicles is of great importance for the efficient organization of urban infrastructure, road safety, and the comfort of tourists", he stated.
