During the meeting, the dynamic development of political dialogue aimed at further strengthening friendly and fraternal relations between the two countries was noted with satisfaction, and the importance of high-level and top-level visits and contacts was emphasized. In this context, the visits of our country's President to Turkmenistan and the Chairman of the People's Council of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, to Azerbaijan last year, and the results achieved, were recalled with satisfaction.
During the meeting, in line with the nature of the existing strategic partnership relations between Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan, opportunities for expanding cooperation in trade and economy, energy, transport and logistics, including cooperation in the Caspian Sea, humanitarian and cultural fields were reviewed, and their prospects were discussed.
In this context, it was emphasized that the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Economic and Humanitarian Cooperation between Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan plays an important role in the development of relations. The importance of organizing Turkmenistan's culture days in Azerbaijan last year, and Azerbaijan's culture days in Turkmenistan this year, was noted, and concurrently, the necessity of promoting our common values such as carpet weaving and horse breeding was highlighted.
At the same time, an exchange of views was held on topical issues of the regional and international agenda, and the importance of further developing cooperation within multilateral platforms was emphasized.
Consensus was expressed that the traditionally existing friendly and fraternal ties between our peoples will further develop on the basis of partnership relations between Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan.
During the meeting, an exchange of views was also held on other bilateral and multilateral issues of mutual interest.
On the same day, the next political consultations were held between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan.
The political consultations were co-chaired by Deputy Foreign Minister Samir Sharifov from the Azerbaijani side and Deputy Foreign Minister Ahmet Gurbanov from the Turkmen side.
