As a result of temporary airspace restrictions applied in the Middle East, a number of global air carriers have re-planned their routes and increased flight frequency over Azerbaijan.
Modern.az reports that in the last few days, over 150 additional transit flights have been carried out over the country.
Currently, Azerbaijan stands out in the global aviation system not only with its favorable geographical position but also with its modern air navigation infrastructure and management potential that it has developed. Located at the intersection of Europe – Asia and North – South transport flows, the country serves as a reliable air bridge for regional and intercontinental flights.
The "Azerbaijan Air Navigation" Air Traffic Department (AZANS), in accordance with the International Civil Aviation Organization's (ICAO) Global Air Navigation Plan (GANP), as well as regional and European programs, implements a consistent development strategy for the safe and efficient organization of air traffic, the application of modern Air Traffic Management (ATM) technologies, and digital transformation.
Today, over 200 international air carriers regularly use Azerbaijan's airspace for various destinations. Approximately 30 air carriers have reconfigured their flight routes and given preference to Azerbaijani airspace. Among them are "Aerologic", "Air Arabia", "Air Atlanta Europe", "Air Cairo", "Air France", "ASL Airlines Belgium", "Austrian Airlines", "British Airways", "DHL Air", "Edelweiss Air", "European Cargo", "FlyDubai", "GullivAir", "ITA Airways", KLM, "Polish Airlines", "Lufthansa", "Malaysia Airlines", "My Freighter", "Pegasus Airlines", "Qantas", "Singapore Airlines", "SriLankan Airlines", "Swiss International Air Lines", "TUI Airways", "Turkish Airlines", "Utair", "Uzbekistan Airways", "Vietnam Airlines" and "Virgin Atlantic".
AZANS continues its activities in accordance with international standards and recommendations towards increasing airspace capacity, strengthening operational resilience, and safely accommodating the growing traffic volume. (Report)
