On March 3, a session on "Green energy projects" was held at the Baku Congress Center within the framework of the 12th ministerial meeting of the Southern Gas Corridor Advisory Council and the 4th ministerial meeting of the Green Energy Advisory Council.

Modern.az reports that Leyla Aliyeva spoke at the event, addressing the problem of the Caspian Sea, stating that it is a matter of increasing concern year by year.

"I must say that this problem concerns not only us and other countries bordering the Caspian Sea. The Caspian Sea is actually a mirror of a broader global ecosystem. Therefore, if the Caspian Sea is experiencing problems, it means that the world ecosystem is also in trouble. Of course, this causes great concern. However, I am only a proponent of positive thinking, so I am confident that we are together, we will be able to do our best to raise the level of the Caspian Sea again and not allow it to disappear like the Aral Sea and Lake Urmia," she added.

Leyla Aliyeva noted that the population of marine life in the Caspian Sea has decreased from one million to 200,000 in the last 100 years.

She also stated that our country is actively investing in renewable energy projects and that our goal is to become a regional green energy hub.

Kristina Lobilyo Borrero, Director-General for Energy at the European Commission, stated that the implementation of renewable clean technologies reduces dependence on fossil fuels, increases energy security, and protects citizens and industry from price volatility, noting that these changes also indicate new industrial opportunities and long-term stability.

Javid Abdullayev, Director of the State Agency for Renewable Energy Sources under the Ministry of Energy, spoke about Azerbaijan's renewable energy potential, noting that work is being done towards the development of bioenergy, geothermal resources, and "green hydrogen." The agency's director also highlighted that key operational documents are being prepared within the framework of international cooperation for the transformation of Karabakh, East Zangezur, and Nakhchivan into "green energy" zones.

Elmir Musayev, CEO of "SOCAR Green," a subsidiary of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR), spoke about the company's activities, stating that its main goals are to decarbonize oil and gas facilities in cooperation with international partners and to consolidate expert knowledge in Azerbaijan.

"Masdar Azerbaijan" LLC Director Murad Sadigov, "ACWA Power" Business Development Director Polina Lyubomirova, bp's Chief Financial Manager for the Azerbaijan-Georgia-Turkey region Ayla Azizova, "Xlinks" project Executive Director James Humphrey, International Finance Corporation Director for Western Balkans and South Caucasus countries Vibke Schlomer, and others spoke about the prospects in the field of renewable energy.
