The Azerbaijani government has appealed to the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) regarding the drone attack from Iran on Nakhchivan International Airport.

Modern.az reports that this was stated in the information provided by the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport.

It was noted that on March 5, attacks by unmanned aerial vehicles were carried out from the territory of the Islamic Republic of Iran on Nakhchivan International Airport of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, and its terminal building.

In accordance with the Convention on International Civil Aviation of December 7, 1944, including the international standards of Annex 17 – “Aviation Security” to the Convention, when an act of unlawful interference with an airport occurs, an initial report prepared by the member state must be sent to the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

Arising from international standards, the public legal entity “State Civil Aviation Agency” under the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport of the Republic of Azerbaijan has sent a corresponding initial report to “ICAO”.
