President Ilham Aliyev addressed congratulations to Azerbaijani women on the occasion of March 8 – International Women's Day.
Modern.az reports that the congratulatory text states:
"Dear ladies!
I sincerely congratulate you on International Women's Day, and wish you all health, happiness, and success in your endeavors.
The Azerbaijani people have always regarded the name of woman as a symbol of grace, beauty, and sublimity, and have shown deep respect for it. Our great past, full of struggles, is rich with shining examples of the wisdom, self-sacrifice, and heroism of our women. In the heart of every Azerbaijani, the concept of Mother always evokes bright feelings associated with the native land, the soil of the Motherland. Our mothers have rendered unparalleled service in preserving our national and moral values, which are our contribution to the treasury of human culture, as a whole, and in ensuring that our language has endured the test of centuries and continues to thrive.
Historically, in our country, the active participation of women in public life has always been met with favor and respect. The fact that Azerbaijani women gained the right to vote and be elected earlier than women in many leading countries of the world is an expression of this progressive attitude. Our women, who have achieved high social standing and prestige through their socio-cultural initiatives in past years, continue to work successfully today in the fields of education, culture, healthcare, and science. The numerous achievements of our ladies, who continue the traditions of their enlightened predecessors and have contributed to shaping the modern image of the country, are proud pages in the chronicle of our independence.
I am confident that our women will continue to spare no effort in educating the younger generation in the spirit of loyalty to the Motherland and national ideals, and will make new contributions to our socio-moral environment.
