Currently, 994 religious communities have been state-registered in Azerbaijan, and 956 of them are of Islamic orientation.

This was stated in the information obtained by Modern.az from the State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations.

According to official data, there are 2387 mosques (219 of which are in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic) and 769 shrines in our country.

In addition, 16 churches, 7 synagogues, 23 Christian prayer houses, 1 Baha'i, and 1 Krishna place of worship operate in Azerbaijan.
