“Certain steps have already been taken towards the management of artificial intelligence. Our approach is not to restrict the development of artificial intelligence through data protection and other regulatory mechanisms, as is the case in some European countries”.
Modern.az reports that this was stated by Samaddin Asadov, Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport, at today's public hearing held by the Agrarian Policy Committee of the Milli Majlis on the topic “Application of Artificial Intelligence in Agriculture: Results and Prospects”.
“At the same time, we do not consider it correct to eliminate all regulatory mechanisms, as is the case in the American model. In this regard, a balanced approach is being applied. To reduce the risks that may arise during the application of artificial intelligence, 8 standards have been prepared, and four of them have already been adopted. These standards cover issues such as the creation and application of artificial intelligence technologies in accordance with ethical principles, ensuring transparency, technological security, and the use of modern algorithms and systems” – he noted.
The Deputy Minister noted that artificial intelligence infrastructure is being created in the country. In the initial stage, technological infrastructure based on NVIDIA's graphic chipsets has already been established.
“The National Supercomputer Center, consisting of graphic chipsets, was commissioned in November last year by “AzInTelecom”, a company within ASCON Holding. This center, comprising 32 graphic chipsets, currently provides services to both government agencies and private sector representatives for the creation, development, and use of artificial intelligence models. It is no coincidence that the Ministry of Agriculture has also started operating as one of the main users of this supercomputer center. In addition, we must note that 32 graphic chipsets are quite few for Azerbaijan's needs” – he noted.
