Last year, the sentences of more than 2 500 convicts were mitigated upon their own applications.
According to Modern.az, this was reflected in the report on the activities of the Cabinet of Ministers in 2025.
The report stated that by the Commission established to expand the appeal opportunities for convicts, more than 12 thousand applications from convicts regarding the replacement of the remaining part of their sentence with a lighter punishment or conditional early release were examined.
More than 5,3 thousand of the applications received a positive opinion. As a result, more than 2,5 thousand convicts were conditionally released early or had their sentences mitigated by the courts.
