In Azerbaijan, 2,398 donkeys have disappeared in the last 1 year.
According to information obtained by Modern.az from the State Statistical Committee, the number of registered donkeys in Azerbaijan as of January 1, 2026, was 10,311.
However, in 2025, 12,709 donkeys were registered in the country. This indicates that within 1 year, the donkey population in the country decreased by 2,398 head.
Overall, in recent years, the number of donkeys in Azerbaijan has been rapidly decreasing. Thus, while there were 42.2 thousand donkeys in our country in 2004 and 43.4 thousand in 2014, according to 2024 data, this figure was 14.9 thousand.
Consequently, compared to 2014, the number of donkeys in Azerbaijan for 2026 has decreased by 4 times.
