On October 29, an international parliamentary conference titled “The Constitution as the Foundation of State Independence and Sovereignty in the Modern World” was held in the Milli Majlis, dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Parliamentary delegations from nearly 20 countries, as well as representatives from 5 international organizations, participated in the event. Within the framework of the conference, the strengthening of cooperation between legislative bodies of states, the protection of sovereignty, and the role of modern legal reforms were discussed.

Modern.az presents information today about the officials who spoke at the international parliamentary conference in the Milli Majlis. 

Saqr Ghobash graduated from the Sudan Police Academy in 1973 and began his professional career in the field of security and administrative management. Later, in 1986, he received a bachelor's degree in Management from UAE University.

Having held various positions in the UAE government for many years, Saqr Ghobash served a diplomatic mission as his country's ambassador to the USA for a period. Later, he served as the UAE's Minister of Labour, taking significant steps towards protecting workers' rights, regulating the labour market, and improving migration policies in the country.

In 2019, Saqr Ghobash was elected Speaker of the Federal National Council. He was re-confirmed in this position in 2023. 
 


Yusuf Raza Gilani is considered one of the statesmen who played a significant role in his country's democratic development. From 2008 to 2012, he served as the Prime Minister of Pakistan, taking important steps towards strengthening civilian government and parliamentary institutions.

Yusuf Raza Gilani entered politics in 1978 as a member of the "Pakistan Muslim League" party, but later continued his political career with the "Pakistan People’s Party" (PPP), led by Benazir Bhutto.

From 1993 to 1997, Gilani served as the Speaker of the National Assembly of Pakistan. During his tenure in parliament, he contributed to maintaining dialogue between the opposition and the ruling party, and to strengthening democratic processes.
In 2008, he was elected Prime Minister of the country as a candidate of the "Pakistan People’s Party". From 2012, Gilani continued his active involvement in parliamentary diplomacy and the leadership structures of his party.

Fayzali Idizoda is an important figure in the Parliament of Tajikistan. On March 19, 2025, he was unanimously elected Speaker of the lower house of the Parliament of Tajikistan. Prior to parliament, Idizoda held leadership positions in state-building and local self-governance committees. 

Mircea Abrudean has been serving as the President of the Romanian Senate since 2025. Abrudean holds a bachelor's degree in International Relations from “Babeș-Bolyai” University and a master's degree from the National School of Political and Administrative Studies in Bucharest. He served as the Prefect of Cluj County from 2019-2021, Head of the Prime Minister's Chancellery from 2021-2023, and Secretary General of the government from 2023-2024.
Currently representing the “Partidul Național Liberal” (PNL) party, Abrudean plays an active role in public administration, parliamentary reforms, and international cooperation.

Uladzislau Tatarinovich is one of the well-known statesmen of the Republic of Belarus. He currently serves as the Deputy Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the Parliament. Holding a high leadership position in the country's parliamentary system, Tatarinovich plays a significant role in the implementation of legislative initiatives and the strengthening of parliamentary diplomacy. Uladzislau Tatarinovich serves as the Deputy Chairman of the upper house of the Belarusian parliament, coordinating the work of the country's legislative p in this position.

Nino Tsilosani currently serves as the Deputy Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia. She represents the “Georgian Dream - Democratic Georgia” party. Nino Tsilosani has been a member of the Parliament of Georgia since 2016. She initially served as the Chairperson of the Agrarian Issues Committee, proposing a number of initiatives related to the modernization of agricultural policy and the socio-economic development of regions. In 2024, Tsilosani was elected to the position of Deputy Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia. 

Jovan Janjić, a prominent statesman of Serbia, currently serves as the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of Serbia. Having been involved in socio-political activities for many years, Janjić was elected as a deputy to the National Assembly in 2007 and actively participates in the legislative field.

Vong Saut, a prominent statesman of Cambodia, has been serving as the Second Vice-President of the National Assembly since August 22, 2023. As a long-standing member of the Cambodian People's Party, he has been actively involved in the country's social policy, education, and infrastructure development.

Hasan Turan, one of Turkey's prominent politicians, currently serves as a Bureau Member of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM). In addition to being an elected Member of Parliament from Istanbul, he is represented in the parliament's leadership. He graduated from the Faculty of Management at Anadolu University, and later obtained master's degrees in Management and Organization from Beykent University, and in Business Administration from Gebze Technical University. Before embarking on his political career, he worked in the trade and advertising sectors in the private sector, and also held leadership positions in public organizations and non-governmental associations.

Şamil Ayrım currently serves as a member of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM). He represents the Justice and Development Party (AK Parti). He graduated from the Ankara Academy of Economic and Commercial Sciences. After working for many years in the private sector and public administration, he entered politics. In 1995, he was first elected as a Member of Parliament from Istanbul, beginning his work in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey. Throughout his political career, he has represented Turkey in various parliamentary committees and international organizations. He also currently serves as the Chairman of the Turkey-Azerbaijan Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group. 

Abdulhakim Eshmuratov is a prominent politician and statesman serving in the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, the supreme legislative p of the Republic of Uzbekistan. He currently serves as the Chairman of the Committee on Judicial and Legal Issues and Combating Corruption.
 

Artyom Turov serves as the Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration, and Relations with Compatriots. He graduated from Smolensk State University and has been involved in socio-political activities since his youth. In the early 2000s, he began his political activities in the regional branch of the “Young Guard” organization and later became one of its leaders. Artyom Turov has been a deputy of the State Duma since 2011. He represents the United Russia party. 
 

Natalia Kuvshinova serves as a member of the Federation Council, the upper house of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation. She graduated from Altai State Technical University and has been involved in socio-political activities for many years. She began her career as a journalist, later working in local self-governance and public organizations. She began her political activities within the ranks of the “United Russia” (Единая Россия) party. 

Sofia Saeed Shah is one of Pakistan's young and active female politicians. She has been serving as a member of the National Assembly of Pakistan since February 2024, representing the “Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan” party. Sofia Saeed Shah was elected to parliament as a deputy from Sindh province under the quota reserved for women.
 

Aidos Sarym is one of the prominent politicians of the Republic of Kazakhstan. He has been serving as a deputy of the Parliament of Kazakhstan's Mazhilis since 2021, representing the “Amanat” Party.
In parliament, Sarym is a member of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defense, and Security. His activities primarily focus on Eurasian integration, regional security, and expanding Kazakhstan's international cooperation.

Eugenio Zoffili is one of the prominent politicians of the Italian Republic. He is currently a member of the Italian Chamber of Deputies and represents the “Lega” (Northern League) party. Eugenio Zoffili has been active in the Italian parliament for many years, taking an active stance on issues related to national security, migration, defense, and European cooperation. He is a member of the Foreign Affairs Committee. 
 

Mohamed Hatta bin Ramli has been actively involved in Malaysian politics for many years. He is currently a member of the Senate, the upper house of the Malaysian Parliament. Ramli served for a period as a member of the Lower House of the Malaysian Parliament (Dewan Rakyat) and held the position of Deputy Minister for Economic Affairs to the Prime Minister from 2018-2020. 

Werner Horn serves as a member of the National Assembly of the Republic of South Africa and as the House Chairperson for Internal Arrangements. Horn is a member of the Democratic Alliance (DA) party and has been represented in the National Assembly since 2014. In parliament, he was initially appointed as the Shadow Minister for Justice and Constitutional Development, and later as the House Chairperson for Internal Arrangements.

Ahmed Bin Mohammed Al Jarwan serves as the President of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace (GCTP). Ahmed Al Jarwan is a citizen of the United Arab Emirates (UAE). He studied Surgery and Aviation Sciences, and later specialized in international relations and diplomacy. Al Jarwan began his political career with service in the UAE Armed Forces, later becoming a member of the UAE Federal National Council and President of the Arab Parliament.

Aktoty Raimkulova is a Kazakh politician and cultural figure. She is currently the President of the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation (TCHF). The Foundation she leads implements joint cultural projects, exhibitions, folklore festivals, and science-culture exchange programs between Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Turkey, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan. Raimkulova previously served as Kazakhstan's Minister of Culture and Sports and possesses extensive experience in cultural diplomacy.

Asaf Hajiyev is a prominent Azerbaijani politician and diplomat. He currently serves as the Secretary General of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation Organization (PABSEC). Asaf Hajiyev has been active in PABSEC for many years, working towards the development of regional economic cooperation, transport, energy, and trade relations. Under his leadership, the organization has supported a number of important initiatives in the Black Sea region in the areas of sustainable development, environmental security, and digital economy.

Mehmet Alper Hayali is one of the prominent officials contributing to the development of parliamentary diplomacy in the Turkic world. He currently serves as the Deputy Secretary General of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic States (TURKPA).
