It is reported that Executive Head Islam Rzayev and several other officials have been detained within the framework of an operation conducted by the State Security Service (SSS) in the Balakan District Executive Power regarding corruption offenses and official crimes.
Modern.az contacted Nasib Mahammadaliyev, the deputy of the 110th Balakan electoral district, in this regard.
The deputy emphasized that his personal relationship with the detained executive head was normal:
“I also read the information about the incident on websites. If the State Security Service has conducted such an operation, it means there were serious grounds for it. However, my relationship with the executive head has been normal.”
N. Mahammadaliyev also noted that the local community had, from time to time, informed him of certain problems related to the executive head:
“During meetings with constituents, certain complaints were reported to me, such as applications not being processed by the Executive Power or delays. The complaints I received regarding the executive head were not very serious; they mainly concerned household matters or certain land issues. I would address the executive head directly, and some issues would then be resolved.
I have been the deputy of Balakan district for 10 years, but to say that everything has been at a high level – that is not possible."
"Since the operation was conducted this morning, my information is quite limited. I have no information regarding the details of the operation. It would not be appropriate for me to comment at this time. After the investigation determines the matter, a legal assessment will be given to the actions of those officials,” the deputy stated in conclusion.
