According to Modern.az, this was stated by the Speaker of the Milli Majlis, Sahiba Gafarova.
The reason for this is the resolution adopted by the European Parliament against Azerbaijan.
Sahiba Gafarova noted that another unjust resolution, built on biased agendas and baseless accusations directed against Azerbaijan, has been adopted.
"It should be noted that with this step, the European Parliament continued its practice of a wrong and non-constructive approach regarding Azerbaijan, which is far from objectivity and contrary to the fundamental principles of international law.
This resolution clearly demonstrates the European Parliament's disregard for the principles of respect for state sovereignty and non-interference in internal affairs. Expressions such as “political prisoners”, “political persecutions”, “violation of academic freedoms”, and “restriction of cultural rights” contained in the document are baseless and biased. We categorically reject such accusations.
The adoption of unilateral decisions that disregard existing realities under the guise of “education” or “human rights protection” serves neither the promotion of democratic development nor the protection of human rights. Such cheap and biased approaches deal a serious blow to equal partnership and constructive dialogue.
Azerbaijan is an active participant in international initiatives in the field of human rights and consistently fulfills its commitments. However, we cannot accept attempts to condition relations with our country on baseless and unilateral demands.
Our state is open to cooperation with international organizations based on the principles of mutual respect, equality, and the inadmissibility of double standards. However, no institution has the right to speak to Azerbaijan in the language of pressure", the speaker noted.
