Today, the closing event of MÜSİAD Azerbaijan's 5th General Assembly was held.

Turkey's Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz also participated in the event.

Modern.az reports that Turkey's Vice President made statements to journalists.

C. Yılmaz first and foremost spoke about the importance of the private sector:

“As a state, our duty is to create suitable conditions for trade. It is the private sector that develops trade, makes investments, and advances relations. Today, we attended two important events of the private sector – the II Azerbaijan-Turkey Investment Forum and MÜSİAD Azerbaijan's 5th General Assembly. As the business world comes together and joint projects are implemented, relations and trade develop, and investments increase. Trade relations solely between the two countries are not enough. Representatives of the business world should come together, work jointly in other countries, and implement projects. Quite good work has been done. I express my gratitude to Mr. Prime Minister Ali Asadov, all Azerbaijani officials, and ministers for their hospitality and the excellent conditions they have created. I thank our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, and Mr. President Ilham Aliyev for leading us and for the strong vision they have put forth. It is our duty to work even harder”.

The Vice President also touched upon the issue of simplified trade:

“Certain steps have been taken regarding simplified trade. In the action plan signed yesterday, we agreed to advance this process further and for our institutions to work in this direction. Our institutions will carry out the technical work. Naturally, our goal is for trade to become even freer. However, on this matter, the institutions of the two countries will work among themselves”.

Cevdet Yılmaz also spoke about the strategic importance of the Zangezur corridor:

“The Zangezur corridor is very strategic. The corridor will lead to much stronger ties not only between Azerbaijan and Nakhchivan or Azerbaijan and Turkey, but also between Turkey and Azerbaijan with Turkic states and Europe. The swift completion of infrastructure works will strengthen the welfare and stability of the entire region. In a situation where Karabakh has been liberated from occupation, we wish for peace to also be achieved with the prepared roadmap. With both peace and new infrastructures, the South Caucasus will become a much more developed region. At the same time, it will play a much more important role in terms of connections between different regions”.
