For officers called up for fixed-term active military service from the reserve or voluntarily entering active military service on a contract basis, the term of active military service in peacetime will be reduced by 6 months.
Modern.az reports that this issue was discussed at today's plenary session of the Milli Majlis.
According to the current law, the term of active military service in peacetime is 1 year and 6 months for officers called up for active military service from the reserve or voluntarily entering it, and up to 3 years for officers voluntarily entering active military service under a contract.
According to the draft, for those called up for fixed-term active military service from the reserve or voluntarily entering active military service on a contract basis, this period will be 1 year (after this period expires, with the consent of the parties, they are transferred to the cadre officer staff), and for foreigners and stateless persons voluntarily entering active military service on a contract basis, this period will be up to 3 years (after this period expires, a new contract is concluded with the consent of the parties).
After discussions, the documents were put to a vote and adopted in the third reading.
