In Azerbaijan, the import, export, production, storage, sale, and use of electronic cigarettes will be prohibited.
According to Modern.az, this issue is reflected in the draft law on amendments to the Law “On Tobacco and Tobacco Products” discussed at today's session of the Milli Majlis.
According to the draft law, the import, export, production, storage, wholesale and retail sale, and use of electronic cigarettes and their components will be prohibited.
Furthermore, nicotine-containing electronic cigarettes will also be considered tobacco products.
In addition, the project proposes the inclusion of the following new concepts into the legislation:
- Heated tobacco product – a product consisting of tobacco (tobacco mixture) and non-tobacco components used in its production, intended for the inhalation of nicotine-containing aerosol generated during the heating process without ignition and without the formation of tobacco smoke, into the human p. Heated tobacco products will not be considered electronic cigarettes.
- Electronic cigarette – a product intended for the inhalation of nicotine-containing or non-nicotine-containing vapor into the human p, excluding food products, tobacco products, medicinal products, and medical devices, and designed for use via a device with or without a mouthpiece or other components, including a cartridge and a vial. The vial of electronic cigarettes can be used once or multiple times, or they can be refilled with disposable cartridges.
The issue was put to a vote and adopted in the third reading.
