Changes will be made to the list of persons with priority for retention during staff reductions.

Modern.az reports that this issue is reflected in the amendment to the Labor Code, which was discussed at today's plenary session of the Milli Majlis.

According to the draft, when qualifications (professions) or professional levels are equal, the employer will not give priority for retention to persons with disabilities as a result of an industrial accident or occupational disease in that enterprise.

According to current legislation, when qualifications (professions) or professional levels are equal, the employer gives priority for retention to the following persons:

  • members of martyr families;
  • war participants;
  • wives (husbands) of soldiers and officers;
  • those with two or more children under 16 years of age;
  • persons with disabilities as a result of an industrial accident or occupational disease in that enterprise;
  • internally displaced persons, persons equated to them, and persons with refugee status;
  • other persons stipulated in collective agreements or employment contracts.

After discussions, the amendment was put to a vote and adopted in the third reading.
