Forcing children to believe in religion is prohibited.
According to information from Modern.az, this was discussed at today's meeting of the parliamentary Committee on Family, Women and Children Affairs.
According to the draft, parents (persons replacing them) will be able to raise children in accordance with their own religious beliefs and attitude towards religion, based on mutual consent.
It was noted that forcing children to believe in religion is prohibited. Furthermore, the religious upbringing of children must not negatively affect their physical and mental health.
Only in cases stipulated by law, restrictions may be placed on a child's freedom of religious belief for the interests of public safety, the maintenance of public order, the protection of health, morality, or the rights and freedoms of other persons.
