The concept of closing libraries is not correct.
Modern.az reports that this was stated by Farid Jafarov, Deputy Minister of Culture, at the presentation ceremony of the "Azerbaijani Culture – 2040" Culture Concept.
He emphasized that accessibility to culture is one of the main requirements at the core of the new concept.
"The main issue here is how efficiently and effectively the services provided by the state in the field of culture are delivered to citizens. Therefore, I would specifically ask that expressions such as 'reduction of certain institutions' or 'closure of certain institutions,' which are occasionally heard in the press, not be presented in this context. The approach should be understood as the improvement of the activities of these institutions or the sector as a whole, and the public should evaluate it in this manner," F. Jafarov emphasized.
"Because it is not about the physical closure of libraries or the complete cessation of their activities. The main issue facing the Ministry of Culture – both previously and currently the main priority in management – is how to organize the activities of state services in these areas more effectively and in an improved manner," he noted in conclusion.
