“It would be advisable to create broader conditions for the development of beekeeping in Kalbajar district. On the other hand, the name of Kalbajar honey is widely used in the market today, and almost two out of every three honey sellers present their product as “Kalbajar honey”. However, it is not possible to control whether all these products are truly produced in Kalbajar”.
According to Modern.az, this was stated by MP Nagif Hamzayev at the public hearing held today by the Agrarian Policy Committee of the Milli Majlis on the topic “Application of Artificial Intelligence in Agriculture: Results and Prospects”.
“In this regard, I believe it is important to strengthen control mechanisms related to the origin and quality of Kalbajar honey. It is proposed that regulatory mechanisms be developed and implemented by relevant state bodies, particularly the Ministry of Agriculture and the Food Safety Agency, regarding this issue. This would serve both to protect consumers and to ensure the interests of beekeeping farms producing genuine Kalbajar honey” – N. Hamzayev emphasized.
The MP stated that an experimental beekeeping farm should be established for the Agrarian University in the territory of Kalbajar district.
Nagif Hamzayev stated that it is important to increase attention to beekeeping at this university and that the number of people wishing to specialize in this field at the master's level is low:
“As you know, places are allocated for this specialization at the master's level at the university, but often these places remain vacant. The main reason for this is the absence of a beekeeping specialization at the bachelor's level. In other words, since there is no relevant foundation at the bachelor's level, interest and continuity are not formed at the master's level. In this regard, I request that places for beekeeping specialization be allocated at the bachelor's level, starting at least from this year. Otherwise, it must be openly stated that the risk of decline in this field may further increase”.
