Persons who illegally prepare or disseminate photo, video, or audio materials through artificial intelligence technologies, as well as special software, will be arrested.
According to Modern.az, the issue is reflected in the draft law on amendments to the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan, which was discussed at a joint meeting of the Milli Majlis Committee on Legal Policy and State Building and the Human Rights Committee.
It was stated that preparing photo, video, or audio materials that do not reflect reality, without the person's consent, by using their image or voice through artificial intelligence technologies, as well as special software, or disseminating such materials in the media, on internet information resources, or in information and telecommunication networks when publicly displayed, is punishable by a fine ranging from three thousand to seven thousand manats, or public works for three hundred sixty to four hundred eighty hours, or restriction of liberty for up to three years, or deprivation of liberty for the same period.
Furthermore, the same acts, when committed by a group of persons or a group of persons acting in prior conspiracy, when committed against two or more persons, when committed with the aim of defaming a person's honor and dignity or discrediting them, or when committed against the victim or their close relatives in connection with the victim's performance of official duties or public duty, are punishable by deprivation of liberty for a period of three to five years.
The draft also states that persons who illegally prepare pornographic or sexually explicit photo, video, or audio materials through artificial intelligence technologies, as well as special software, and also for disseminating such materials in the media, on internet information resources, or in information and telecommunication networks when publicly displayed, will be punished by deprivation of liberty for a period of three to seven years.
