Currently, 1 million 99 thousand pensioners have been registered in Azerbaijan, which constitutes 10.7 percent of the country's population. 65 percent of pensioners receive age-based pensions.
Modern.az reports that this was stated by MP Vugar Bayramov at today's plenary session of the Milli Majlis.
“The upward trend in pension amounts continues. In 2025, pension amounts increased by 9.1 percent, reaching 541.6 manats. An increase of 8.9 percent was recorded in age-based pension amounts, 8.7 percent in disability pension amounts, and 9.4 percent in survivor's pension amounts. The number of recipients of monthly social benefits increased by 4.1 percent. Currently, 472 thousand of our citizens receive monthly benefits. Support for large families remains a priority. A 7.3 percent increase was recorded in the number of children receiving monthly benefits in large families. And there was a 17.6 percent increase in the number of families with children under 1 year old receiving monthly benefits.
Following the recent encouraging changes made to the legislation at the initiative of the Esteemed President and under the chairmanship of the Madam Chair, the number of adopted children with disabilities increased by 40 percent. This humanitarian activity, supporting inclusivity, has created opportunities for more children with disabilities to be adopted. As of January 1, 2026, 336.0 thousand members of 76.1 thousand low-income families received targeted state social assistance, with the number of children in the family also taken into account when these funds are paid.
As can be seen, President Ilham Aliyev's special attention and care for the social sphere have ensured the consistent implementation of important steps towards social progress and the strengthening of the social protection system in the country, and these successes will continue in the upcoming period” – the MP noted.
