The 5th anniversary of the liberation of Kalbajar district from occupation is being marked. According to the trilateral statement of November 10, 2020, the Armenian armed forces left Kalbajar on November 25, 2020, and the district was returned to Azerbaijan's control. Furthermore, according to the decree of President Ilham Aliyev dated July 31, 2023, November 25 is celebrated as Kalbajar City Day.
Kalbajar, known for its picturesque mountains, rich nature, and mineral springs, has held special cultural and strategic importance for centuries. Following its liberation from occupation, large-scale restoration and reconstruction works are being carried out in the district, with roads, power lines, and settlements being rebuilt. Today, Kalbajar is becoming one of the country's dynamically developing regions with its ecotourism and agricultural potential.
Kalbajar City Day is a special day commemorating both the liberation of the district and the will and unity of our people. This date is celebrated as a symbol of Kalbajar's rebirth and its bright future.
This presentation of the **“Masters of Life”** rubric on the **Modern.az** website is dedicated to Kalbajar's oldest resident.

Kalbajar's oldest resident is Kheyrensa Ismayil daughter Bakhishaliyeva. She was born in Kalbajar city on April 1, 1913. Having opened her eyes to the world in the mountains of Kalbajar, and spent her childhood among steep rocks and flower-filled pastures, Grandma Kheyrensa's youth was rich with musical and storytelling gatherings.
She was 80 years old when she became displaced from her homeland in 1993. Today, Grandma Kheyrensa is 113 years old. A full 33 years of her life were spent longing for her homeland. Many believed that her return would not be possible at this age. However, Grandma Kheyrensa, with her determination and the strength of her deep love for her homeland, was able to return to her native land and was fortunate enough to witness the joy of victory with her own eyes.
113-year-old Kheyrensa Bakhishaliyeva has been in her native Kalbajar for several months now. Grandma Kheyrensa, who lived for many years longing for her homeland and native village, has 3 sons, 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
We also wish Grandma Kheyrensa robust health and a long life!
