A Khojaly resident visited by the President:

Karabakh

Today, alongside the 34th anniversary of the Khojaly genocide, we are also witnessing the “Great Return.” Yesterday, President Ilham Aliyev, together with his family members, presented the keys to their homes to the residents of Xanabad village in Khojaly and met with them.

Modern.az contacted the Sahibli family, who hosted the President in Khojaly yesterday.

Leyla Sahibli stated in her remarks to our website that they have completed their first day in Xanabad, their native lands, after 30 years.

“Our joy knows no bounds. My father, Ramin Azizov, was only 13 years old when Khojaly was occupied. He was taken captive at that age. He lost his mother, his uncle, and his uncle's children; his aunt's children went missing, and there is still no news from them. Despite all this, we are back in our homeland. Although my father did not fully experience his childhood here, his grandchildren will grow up in Khojaly and rebuild this place.”

Khojaly resident Leyla Sahibli also spoke about the meeting with President Ilham Aliyev and his family:

“We were very happy that the President was a guest in our home. This is the dream of all internally displaced persons. We will always be grateful to the President, our soldiers, and our veterans. May Allah have mercy on our martyrs. If it weren't for them, our children would also have grown up without Khojaly.”
