A new National Park will be established in Kalbajar.
Modern.az reports that this is reflected in the “Report on the Activities of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan in 2025” which was discussed at today's meeting of the Milli Majlis.
It was reported that from May 5-7, 2025, field research was conducted by the Institute of Zoology of the Ministry of Science and Education and the Azerbaijan Representation of the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) to investigate the possibilities of creating new specially protected natural areas in Kalbajar district, as well as to study the populations of rare and endangered Front Asian leopard (Panthera pardus) and Bezoar goat (Capra aegagrus), whose names are listed in the "Red Book" of the Republic of Azerbaijan, in their existing biotopes within the natural landscape of Kalbajar district. Additionally, in connection with the new National Park planned to be established in Kalbajar district, monitoring was carried out on September 23-24 in the territories of Aghdara and Khojaly districts, particularly in the direction of Qırxqız mountains and Meydan plain.
Also, a map of the Arazboyu State Nature Sanctuary was prepared, submitted in due course, and approved.
