Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has called on Armenians not to be concerned about the phrase “Zangezur corridor” voiced in Azerbaijan.
According to information provided by Modern.az citing Armenian media, Nikol Pashinyan stated that the agreements reached in Washington on August 8, 2025, must be implemented as soon as possible:
"The essence of the matter is this: we have signed, initialed documents. When phrases not present in these documents are used, the question arises: where do they come from?".
According to the Prime Minister, touching upon the phrase “Zangezur corridor”, names are determined by Armenia in Armenia, and by Azerbaijan in Azerbaijan:
“We have recognized each other's sovereignty, territorial integrity, and the inviolability of borders”.
Pashinyan also added that the phrase “Zangezur corridor” causes irritation in Armenia, but there is no need to worry about it:
"We must understand: what is the purpose of this phrase - is it to provoke? If it turns out that Azerbaijan wants to use this name in connection with the Horadiz-Zangilan road, we must ask ourselves: does this concern us? Is this our concern? I say: there can be no other designation related to the territory of the Republic of Armenia. And my claim is legitimate”.
Pashinyan said that if they want to use the phrase “Zangezur corridor” in Azerbaijan, let them do so.
According to him, this has no connection with the territory of Armenia:
"They want to name a road - we should ask ourselves: does this matter to us? Excuse me, they can even decide to call it "Albert Einstein" - let them call it that. This has no connection with the sovereign territory of Armenia. I have a signed document", he added.
Pashinyan clarified that when Azerbaijan refers to the “Zangezur corridor”, they mean the Horadiz-Zangilan road, which could extend to the border crossing point with Armenia.
