They are not in the political arena, but in many cases, they are in the spotlight. When their fathers or mothers come to the forefront in crucial issues of the country, they themselves also fall within the public's interest. The discussion is about the children of politicians: who are they, what do they do, how has their parents' influence affected their life path?

Akif Nağı has been "making his mark" in Azerbaijani politics for many years. In 1993, he became a member, and later co-chairman, of the Karabakh Liberation Movement's Board of Directors. In 2000, the Karabakh Liberation Movement transformed into the Karabakh Liberation Organization. He has been the chairman of the organization since then.

The VI Congress of the Karabakh Liberation Organization was held in Baku on August 17, 2022. At the Congress, the Free Homeland Party was established on the basis of the organization, and Akif Nağı was elected chairman of the party.

The political activities, speeches, and statements of party chairmen always attract attention. A perception has formed in Azerbaijani public opinion that party leaders should be exemplary in many matters, including raising children.

Modern.az website this time features the children of Akif Nağı in its "Children of Politicians" section.

Akif Nağı has 4 children, 3 daughters and 1 son.

"I have 3 daughters and 1 son. My son Qazax was born in 1993. My eldest daughter Günel was born in 1984, my middle daughter Aysel in 1986, and my youngest daughter Gülnar in 1989. All three of my daughters have completed higher education.

My son Qazax was admitted to the Cooperation University through the SEC exam, then transferred to Poltava, Ukraine, where he completed his bachelor's degree at the University of Economics. After finishing his higher education, he returned to Baku, worked for a certain period, and then went to military service. In 2016, he served in the military along the Aghdam-Fuzuli direction of the front line. After returning from the army, he worked in the tourism sector for a while.
He later continued his work related to tourism in the cities of Ankara, Balıkesir, and Istanbul in Turkey. While working in Ankara, he pursued a master's degree in economics and management at Hacettepe University.
Currently, he works as a leading specialist at the State Employment Agency. In the evenings, he teaches master's students at UNEC.

My eldest daughter graduated from the Geography Faculty of Baku State University, my middle daughter from International University, and my youngest daughter from Akdeniz University in Turkey. None of them are currently working. All three are married, have children, and are currently busy with them," A. Nağı said about his children's current occupations.

The party chairman emphasized that he raised his children as he wished:

"I believe that I have raised my children as I wished. At the very least, they are people devoted to their homeland and state. They have no bad habits. The greatest share and contribution a parent gives to a child is their upbringing. I am completely satisfied with their upbringing. All four are married. They have good families, and everything is in order. They also have their own positions in society. At the very least, I am proud that my children are patriots. They all, including my wife, participated in most of the rallies of the Karabakh Liberation Organization. They considered this their duty. There were those who did not fully understand the activities of the Karabakh Liberation Organization and Akif Nağı. They wondered why he wasn't pursuing his own career, fighting for Karabakh, losing his job; I was once expelled from the University. But my family understood me. They thought that if our father is involved in this work, it means he is working for the nation and the state. My children still pay close attention to events happening in the world."

Akif Nağı stated that he did not wish for his children to be involved in politics:

"None of my children are seriously involved in politics. My son is interested in politics to a certain extent. He also has writings related to this. He expresses his stance on internal and external events. However, he is mostly engaged in his professional activities. Since he teaches at the university, he is considering defending a scientific work. I myself became a politician out of necessity. I didn't even want to be a politician. I wanted to work more as an educator in the field of science. A tragic situation arose concerning Karabakh, and in 1993, people gathered in panic and anxiety. I was with them. We thought, "What needs to be done?" A consensus emerged that this organization (Karabakh Liberation Movement - ed.) should be established. At the very least, work for the liberation of Karabakh should be carried out through public channels. At that time, I entered politics in this way. I was active in the True Path Party. Then, when this party merged with the Musavat Party, I worked in its leadership. In 2005, I withdrew from politics according to my own wishes. The activities of the Karabakh Liberation Organization were also political, but more of a public movement. I wouldn't particularly wish for my children to be involved in politics, but if they wanted to, I wouldn't hinder them."

The party chairman also spoke about the aspects he liked most about his children:

"They are growing up as citizens of Azerbaijan. They don't look favorably upon those who want to leave Azerbaijan and live abroad. I like these characteristics. That is, they adhere to the principle of "let us have a piece of bread, and let us be in our own homeland, in our own home." We are from Karabakh. Each of them has a great love for Karabakh, for our village. I like this. It's a natural process. They are family-oriented. The world has globalized, there are social media and other new trends, but they don't accept any of them."
