The name of academician Ramiz Mehdiyev, former Head of the Presidential Administration and former President of ANAS, has once again become topical. A criminal case has been initiated against the 87-year-old academician, for whom a 4-month house arrest pre-trial detention measure was chosen by the decision of the Sabail District Court, at the Main Investigation Department of the State Security Service (SSS).
R. Mehdiyev is accused under Articles 274 (Treason), 278 (Forcible seizure or retention of power), and 193-1 (Legalization of criminally obtained funds) of the Criminal Code.
Ramiz Mehdiyev served as the Head of the Presidential Administration from 1995 to 2019, and as the President of the National Academy of Sciences from 2019 to 2022.
He holds the status of a true state advisor, which is the highest special rank in civil service.
R. Mehdiyev is currently a member of the Security Council of the Republic of Azerbaijan. He is also represented in the Veterans Council of the ruling New Azerbaijan Party.

Ramiz Mehdiyev's son, Teymur Mehdiyev, was born on 25.06.1975 in Sukhumi, Republic of Georgia. He graduated from Baku State University and holds a Ph.D. in Law.
T. Mehdiyev currently serves as the Deputy Minister of Emergency Situations.
Teymur Mehdiyev was appointed Deputy Minister of Emergency Situations on May 5, 2014, and was awarded the rank of Major General.
Previously, he held the position of First Deputy Head of the State Migration Service. Prior to that, Teymur Mehdiyev served as Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism. He is married and has 2 children.
Ramiz Mehdiyev's daughter, Kamila Aliyeva, has been working in the field of science for many years. She was born in Moscow in 1970. (At that time, her father Ramiz Mehdiyev was a postgraduate student at Moscow State University).
K. Aliyeva studied at the Faculty of Biology of Baku State University (BSU) from 1987 to 1992. She began her professional career at the Institute of Zoology.
From 1998 to 2002, she was a doctoral student at the Department of Psychology of BSU. In 2002, she defended her candidate's dissertation on the topic “Creativity as a Factor in Personality Development.” In 2009, she defended her doctoral dissertation in psychological sciences on the topic “Psychological Problems of Forming the Creative Potential of Personality.”
Kamila Aliyeva (who bears the surname of her husband – former MP Ilham Aliyev) worked as a lecturer at the Department of Psychology of BSU from 1999, and as an associate professor from 2004. Since 2010, she has been a professor at the department.
Since 2004, she has also served as the Head of the Department of Social and Pedagogical Psychology at BSU.
In 2009, Kamila Aliyeva was awarded the title of “Teacher of the Year” by the Scientific Council of BSU.
