The origin of Russian President's press secretary Dmitry Peskov has been revealed.

Modern.az reports that this was stated in an article by "Project" magazine.

It has been revealed that Dmitry Peskov's origin is from the Soviet nomenklatura, where party and intelligence lines were closely intertwined.

Dmitry Peskov's great-grandfather, Yakov Zevin, was one of the 26 Baku Commissars shot in 1918.

After his death, USSR leader Vladimir Lenin personally provided an apartment in Moscow to his widow.

Peskov's great-grandfather worked at the People's Commissariat of Education alongside Lenin's wife, Nadezhda Krupskaya, and was considered a close friend of the Lenin family.

Dmitry Peskov's mother, Nadezhda Zevina, participated in the party "purges" of the Red Army Air Force and worked at the Lenin Museum in her final years.

Biographers note that information about her places of service is kept confidential, as is characteristic for intelligence officers. The family lived in an elite building on Presnya Street, where neighbors included “KGB” and foreign trade officials.

According to the publication, Peskov's father, Sergey Peskov, a graduate of the Institute of Asian and African Studies, served for many years in the Middle East under the guise of "friendship societies," a classic cover for Soviet intelligence officers during the “Cold War”.

Dmitry Peskov was born into a diplomat's family and spent his childhood moving between assignments. His career began after two successful marriages. His first wife was Anastasia, granddaughter of Marshal Semyon Budyonny, and she secured his first foreign diplomatic assignment – to Turkey.

After their separation, Dmitry married Yekaterina, daughter of diplomat Vladimir Solotsinsky. It was later his father who recommended Peskov to accompany Boris Yeltsin on his visit to Turkey in 1999.

Thus, Peskov found himself in the Kremlin and eventually became Vladimir Putin's chief media strategist, the person responsible for the president's public image.

D. Peskov has been Deputy Head of the Administration of the President of the Russian Federation – Press Secretary of the President of the Russian Federation since May 22, 2012. He holds the rank of 1st Class State Advisor of the Russian Federation.
