These days, the world's attention is focused on the Republic of Venezuela. The main reason for this is the overthrow of Nicolas Maduro from the post of President of Venezuela amidst the international political-military crisis occurring in the country.
On January 3, a large-scale military operation was carried out by the United States against Venezuela, as a result of which Nicolás Maduro was neutralized, taken to America, and arrested. This created a great shock effect within Venezuela and internationally.
Vice-President Delcy Rodríguez has been declared interim president in place of N. Maduro. This rapid political change is currently creating tension both domestically and abroad.
It should be noted that Venezuela is one of the states with diplomatic relations with Azerbaijan. Diplomatic relations between the two countries were established on May 12, 1995.
Azerbaijan is represented in Venezuela by Ambassador Ruslan Novruz oglu Rzayev.

On August 27, 2025, Ruslan Rzayev, Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, presented his credentials to Nicolas Maduro, who was then the President of the country.
It should be noted that Ruslan Novruz oglu Rzayev is also the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Republic of Cuba. He was appointed Ambassador to Cuba on August 19, 2022.
In addition to these two countries, Ruslan Rzayev is also the accredited Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Dominican Republic.
The Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Republic of Cuba also functions as Azerbaijan's Representation to the Association of Caribbean States.
