The certification of teachers working in music schools, rather than attestation, may in certain aspects be similar to the certification process for teachers working in general education schools.
Education expert Elmin Nuri stated this in his comments to Modern.az.
He noted that parallels are possible in the examination procedures, evaluations, approaches, organization of exams, and other technical details.
“Moreover, the model being applied is an approach based on international experience, and it is noted that more examples were drawn from the Ukrainian and Kazakhstani models in the formation of the teacher certification mechanism. The interview stage, the mechanisms to be considered in the test examination, and the overall structure of certification may have been influenced by these experiences.”
It does not seem realistic for the certification of music teachers to fully replicate the certification of general education teachers:
“This is primarily due to differences in content and form: there are areas requiring musical instruments, performance, and special abilities, and the assessment approach in this field must naturally be different.”
According to him, the first stage could be a test examination (online), followed by an interview stage, and additionally, for areas requiring special abilities, such as performance and creative skills, assessment in a separate stage may be possible.”
Elmin Nuri noted that the certification of music teachers is not as widespread an area in international practice as the certification of teachers working in general education schools. For this reason, it also seems more difficult to adopt a model and apply it in accordance with local realities. Nevertheless, the existing “teacher certification model” can also be applied to music teachers with certain elements.
