On March 5, Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili called the Azerbaijani Foreign Minister.

According to information provided to Modern.az by the Press Service Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan (MFA), during the phone conversation, the ministers discussed the situation that arose as a result of Iran's drone attacks against our country.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov informed his counterpart about the drone attacks carried out by Iran against the territory of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic on March 5.

As a result, the terminal building of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic airport was damaged, and civilians were injured. Additionally, one of the drones fell near a school building in Shakarabad village.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov emphasized that this attack carried out against the territory of Azerbaijan contradicts the norms and principles of international law and serves to increase tension in the region.

It was brought to attention that the Azerbaijani side demanded clarification of the issue by the Iranian side in a short period, the provision of a relevant explanation, and the adoption of necessary urgent measures to prevent such incidents from recurring in the future.

Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili expressed her concern regarding the incident and noted the importance of maintaining stability and security in the region.

During the phone conversation, the parties also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.
