Last year, scientific institutions and organizations carried out work worth over 230 million manats, of which approximately 98% consisted of scientific and technical work. Of the scientific and technical work carried out, 61.5% comprised fundamental research, 11.2% applied research, and 11.4% design, construction, and technological work.
According to Modern.az, this is reflected in the Cabinet of Ministers' report on its activities in 2025.
Compared to the previous year, the value of fundamental and applied research increased by 6.2%, and by 2.4 times compared to the last 10 years. Internal expenditures on research work increased by 2.1 times compared to the previous year, reaching 262.5 million manats. Of the current expenditures on fundamental and applied research, 35.3% was spent on natural sciences, 32.9% on humanities and social sciences, 18.3% on technical sciences, 7.6% on medical sciences, and 5.9% on agricultural sciences.

In the reporting year, 2176 scientific research works were carried out in scientific institutions across all scientific divisions, based on 706 topics covering 226 problems. Scientists working in scientific institutions published 686 books and monographs, and 12.8 thousand articles and theses (including those in impact factor journals indexed in Web of Science and Scopus databases). Approximately 67 thousand citations were made to the works of scientific staff.
