In world practice, the form of part-time education exists for all three levels of education in higher education institutions. Although there are more optimal models than this, the part-time method persists. Although this method carries the characteristics of full-time education, it differs significantly from it. Due to the compressed learning method, students can focus more on practical experience.
Although part-time education exists at the bachelor's and doctoral levels in Azerbaijan, this practice has been completely abolished at the master's level since the 2014-2015 academic year.
"Discussions regarding the part-time form of education at the master's level are repeated almost every year."
Education expert Elmin Nuri stated this in his statement to Modern.az.
He noted that it is necessary to pay attention to several details based on world practice:
"The part-time form of education for any level of higher education is already considered an outdated trend. The approach to education forms in world practice is now completely different: hybrid, distance, and classical approaches exist. Against the backdrop of convenient education forms like distance learning, I believe that returning to the part-time education form is not a priority issue."
He noted that he does not expect the restoration of the part-time education form at the master's level in Azerbaijan:
"Today, we should discuss the issues of applying more relevant forms – distance and hybrid education forms – to the Azerbaijani education system. The part-time education form is a mobilized element. This is a compressed method of full-time education. From both a theoretical and practical point of view, this is not considered the most convenient option."
