Georgia's former Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili has been sentenced to imprisonment.

Modern.az reports that this was stated in the statement of the General Prosecutor's Office of Georgia.

Garibashvili confessed to the crime he committed. 

The Georgian Prosecutor's Office signed a plea agreement with the accused person, and according to this agreement, the former prime minister was sentenced to 5 years of imprisonment for money laundering on a particularly large scale.

In addition, he was fined 1 million lari as an additional penalty. Garibashvili will also transfer the proceeds of crime and the money confiscated during the search of his home to the state.
