As a result of measures carried out by employees of the Astara Customs Department of the State Customs Committee, a particularly large amount of narcotic substance was once again discovered and removed from illegal circulation.

According to the information, the narcotic substance was discovered at the “South-Astara” customs post in a vehicle transporting a “greens” cargo from Iran to Russia, transiting through the country's territory. As suspicious outlines were observed during the inspection carried out with a stationary X-ray machine, a thorough customs inspection was conducted on the cargo vehicle with the application of a canine service dog. During the inspection, hidden from customs control and placed in the trailer of the vehicle, a particularly large amount of narcotic substance - marijuana - with a total weight of 51 kilograms 941 grams, including its packaging, was discovered.
