The tuition fee for driver training for local carriers in Azerbaijan has been reduced from 266 manats to 50 manats.
Modern.az reports, citing the Azerbaijan Land Transport Agency (AYNA), that this was stated at the agency's latest meeting with national carriers engaged in international cargo transportation by road.
According to the information, an exchange of views on the development of the sector took place at the meeting, and participants' proposals were heard. The importance of adhering to legal obligations, proper documentation, and existing requirements during operations was brought to the attention of the participants.
The "5000 new drivers" project, implemented by AYNA to support national carriers, was also discussed. Information was provided on the role of carriers in attracting C and CE category drivers and the positive impact that an increase in the number of drivers will have on the development of the sector. The reduction of the driver training tuition fee from 266 manats to 50 manats was brought to the attention of the participants. It was stated that although the training fee is 266 manats, more than 80% of the amount will be covered by AYNA. Drivers will be able to participate in the training by paying only 50 manats.
Considering the emerging need for masters in technical maintenance and repair of cargo vehicles, the possibilities for carriers with technical repair facilities to participate in the project were discussed. The capabilities of enterprises that can provide training were evaluated, and an exchange of views was held on identifying the required professions.
The issue of expanding the geography of international transportation was also a focus of the meeting. The importance of increasing participation in international cargo transportation, particularly towards China, as well as Mongolia and Iran, was emphasized. The participation of national entrepreneurs in transport and logistics exhibitions was deemed appropriate for expanding international relations. The possibility of companies participating in an upcoming exhibition to be organized in China was stated. It was noted that they could apply to AYNA if organizational support was needed.
It is planned to regularly continue measures aimed at the development of the sector with carriers operating in the field of international cargo transportation.
