Today is the birthday of National Hero Mubariz Ibrahimov.
Modern.az reminds that Mubariz Aghakarim oglu Ibrahimov was born on February 7, 1988, in Aliabad village of Bilasuvar district.
In 1994, he enrolled in the 1st grade of Aliabad village secondary school named after martyr M. Piriyev and completed his secondary education there in 2005.
That same year, he was called up for active military service. He served in the Special Purpose Unit of military unit "N" of the Internal Troops. He completed his active military service in 2007 with the rank of sergeant.
In August 2009, he re-entered military service with the rank of ensign. After some time, at his own request, he was assigned to one of the military units in the frontline zone.
On June 19, 2010, at around 23:30 at night, Ensign Mubariz Ibrahimov single-handedly destroyed a large number of soldiers and officers of the Armenian armed forces with an unexpected attack. He then used the enemy's own weapons against them, fighting them one-on-one for five hours, inflicting heavy losses on the enemy. He was heroically martyred in battle in the morning hours.
President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev signed an order on awarding the title of "National Hero of Azerbaijan" (posthumously) to Ensign Mubariz Aghakarim oglu Ibrahimov of the Azerbaijani National Army. This title was bestowed upon the martyred ensign for his exceptional service and valor in preserving the independence and territorial integrity of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
A lyceum-school complex and a street in Bilasuvar city bear his name. In 2008, the second 12.7 mm caliber rifle from the "Istiglal" sniper rifle family, produced by the Ministry of Defense Industry of Azerbaijan, was named "Mubariz" in his honor.
In 2014, a memorial plaque in the name of Mubariz Ibrahimov was installed in Minto Park, located in Ottawa, Canada.
In 2016, one of the streets in Sumgayit was named after National Hero Mubariz Ibrahimov.
In 2016, his statue was erected at the Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University.
