The first city on the Moon could be built in less than 10 years.
Modern.az reports that this was stated by Elon Musk, the founder of “SpaceX”.
According to him, the establishment of a self-sustaining city on the Moon is one of the company's main priorities.
Elon Musk wrote on the “X” social network: “SpaceX” is focused on building a self-sustaining city on the Moon, because we can potentially achieve this goal in less than 10 years. On Mars, however, this will take more than 20 years”.
He noted that the flight window to Mars opens every 26 months and the journey takes approximately six months. In addition, Musk emphasized that flights to the Moon can be carried out every 10 days and the trip takes only two days.
At the same time, the head of “SpaceX” stated that the company plans to work on city construction on Mars as well and that work in this direction is expected to begin within approximately 5–7 years.
