The MIA has issued a statement regarding human trafficking.
According to information provided by the Press Service of the MIA to Modern.az, the appeal states that some citizens who travel to foreign countries believing fake advertisements have their documents seized, are subjected to forced labor and sexual exploitation, and ultimately become victims of human trafficking:
"So, what should we do to protect ourselves from such situations?
1. When receiving an online offer for high-paying work or education abroad, you can contact the "152" Hotline of the Main Department for Combating Human Trafficking of the MIA to receive free consultation with confidentiality ensured;
2. Contact the accredited diplomatic mission or Consulate of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the country you intend to visit and verify the authenticity of the advertisement;
3. Request the special permit, i.e., license, of the company or individual offering work and education;
4. You can request a copy of the employment contract to be concluded.
Precautionary measures do not end here. Even after leaving the country, you must be careful and should not entrust your identity documents to anyone. While engaged in employment, you must conclude an employment contract, and immediately report any unlawful act committed against you to the local police authorities, as well as to our diplomatic mission or Consulate operating in that country.
Be informed about human trafficking, do not become a victim!"
