The Ministry of Emergency Situations has issued a warning regarding the expected weather conditions.
Information on this was provided to Modern.az by the ministry.
It was reported that, according to the National Hydrometeorology Service, severe weather conditions, strong winds, intense precipitation including snow in some areas, and a significant drop in temperature are forecast for February 10-11 across the country.
The Ministry of Emergency Situations appealed to the public, urging strict adherence to relevant safety rules:
"Thus, during strong winds, it is recommended to stay away from light-structured and temporary buildings, building and advertising boards, and to avoid standing under electricity poles and wires, or tall trees. Furthermore, considering the difficulties strong winds create in extinguishing fires, fire safety rules must be observed with particular strictness during windy weather conditions. In addition, small vessel users should be aware that going out to sea is prohibited in such weather conditions.
At the same time, as cold weather conditions lead to a significant increase in the use of gas and electric heating devices, fire safety rules must be strictly observed when using these devices, and caution must be exercised against the danger of carbon monoxide. Faulty, non-standard, or homemade heating devices should not be used, the electrical network should not be overloaded, and operational heating devices should not be left unattended."
The MES report stated that, especially in mountainous areas, citizens should, as far as possible, not leave their settlements in frosty and snowy weather; if such a necessity arises, they should inform their relatives in advance about their direction of travel, and ensure that the vehicle's technical specifications are suitable for the season and that there is a sufficient fuel reserve:
"It is recommended to avoid areas with a risk of avalanches, including steep slopes, and to return to the settlement before dark."
