By the relevant Decree of President Ilham Aliyev, Azer Ismayil oglu Mursagulov has been appointed Chairman of the State Statistical Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
According to Modern.az, the new chairman's father, Ismayil Hasan oglu Mursagulov, was martyred during the January 20 events in 1990.
Ismayil Hasan oglu Mursagulov was born on November 13, 1939, in the village of Gizilhajili, Marneuli district, Georgia.
Professor Ismayil Mursagulov was one of the most promising and prospective department heads at the Sumgayit Institute of Polymer Materials.
Ismayil Hasan oglu Mursagulov was born on November 13, 1939, in Marneuli city, Republic of Georgia, into a family of civil servants. In 1947, he entered the first grade of Marneuli secondary school and graduated with a gold medal in 1958. In the same year, he was admitted to the Faculty of Chemistry of Azerbaijan State University and graduated with an honors diploma in 1963. After graduating from the university, he was assigned to the All-Union Scientific Research Institute of Olefins, where he worked as a laboratory assistant for several months. At the end of 1963, he entered the postgraduate studies of the Institute of General Chemistry (Moscow) of the USSR Academy of Sciences and completed it in 1966. In early 1967, he defended his candidate's dissertation at the Scientific Council of the same institute. From 1966–1967, he worked as a junior research fellow at the Institute of Petrochemical Processes of the Azerbaijan Academy of Sciences, and from 1967–74, as a senior research fellow at the Institute of Chemistry of Additives of the Azerbaijan Academy of Sciences.
Professor Ismayil Hasan oglu Mursagulov was one of the victims of the brutal crime committed against our people by the Soviet Empire when it deployed troops to Baku on January 20, 1990. On January 24, 1990, during the bloody January events, while traveling from Baku to Sumgayit for work with his colleagues, he sustained severe injuries as a result of the brutality of Soviet soldiers and passed away prematurely on February 3, at a time when his life was flourishing and his creativity was flowing like a spring.
