On February 11, the congress of the "Strong Armenia" Party, established under the patronage of Samvel Karapetyan, owner of the "Tashir" Group of Companies, was held.
Modern.az reports that the party's chairman and council were elected at the congress. Samvel Karapetyan was unanimously elected party chairman.
Tomorrow, the official presentation of the party will be held at the Karen Demirchyan Sports and Concert Complex in Yerevan. According to the Armenian press, the party's candidate for prime minister will be announced during this presentation.
Samvel Karapetyan is currently under house arrest. He was arrested in June 2025 after openly supporting the Armenian Apostolic Church amidst a conflict between the clergy and the government. Subsequently, a criminal case was opened against the businessman on charges of "laundering large sums of dirty money by abusing official powers or influence."
On January 17 this year, Samvel Karapetyan, head of the "Tashir" Group of Companies, was released from pre-trial detention to house arrest.
