In February 2026, the air temperature in Baku and the Absheron Peninsula was above the climatic norm for 24 days (0–15 degrees), below the norm for 3 days (0–4 degrees), and within the norm for 1 day.

This was reported to Modern.az by Nazim Mahmudov, head of the National Hydrometeorological Service.

He noted that the average monthly temperature was 8 degrees Celsius, which is 4 degrees above the climatic norm: "In Baku and the Absheron Peninsula, the maximum temperature in February was recorded on February 14 at 26 degrees Celsius, and in the regions (Beylagan, Kurdamir) on February 18 at 27 degrees Celsius. The minimum air temperature in Baku and the Absheron Peninsula was recorded on February 5 at 1 degree below zero (Baku), and in high mountainous areas on the same day up to 14 degrees below zero (Shahdag)".

The head emphasized that on some days in February, the weather conditions were intermittently rainy, with sleet and snow falling in various places: "In some areas, precipitation was intense and heavy, characteristic of downpours. In total, rainy weather conditions were recorded for 24 days across the regions. The highest precipitation fell in the Lankaran–Astara zone (Astara – 119 mm), amounting to 125 percent of the monthly norm, and in the Karabakh zone (Tartar – 62 mm), amounting to 303 percent of the monthly norm. As a result of the snowfall, the maximum snow cover height in Shahbuz was 54 cm".

N. Mahmudov stated that on some days in February, 12 yellow and orange warnings were issued due to windy weather conditions. Windy weather conditions were observed for 17 days in Baku and the Absheron Peninsula, and for 23 days in the regions.
