At the core of Fire Wednesday is the belief in the sacredness of fire, that it will cleanse people from all kinds of evils and wickedness, and that good will triumph.
This Wednesday stems from the ancient people's sacred belief in the Sun and fire. According to tradition, on this day, bonfires are lit, and by jumping over the flames, all inner impurities and ailments are burned away.
As in other Wednesdays, on Fire Wednesday, pots must boil, and the hearth must not be empty. The lighting of fire and bonfires on this Wednesday is a sign that the year will be warm and fruitful.
Since ancient times, people have protected fire and respected it. A lit bonfire has always been a sign of something. This can be clearly seen in the epic "Kitabi-Dədə Qorqud". Long before Zoroastrianism, people symbolized fire, the earthly symbol of the Sun that revives nature and warms the earth, in their imaginations. Such a belief arose that the more people cherish and caress the sun and fire, the faster nature will warm up and bring happiness to people.
Let us recall that Wind Wednesday will be celebrated on March 10, and the last - Earth Wednesday - on March 17.
