At Baku Engineering University (BEU), a meeting was held with foreign students admitted to the university for the 2025/2026 academic year.
It was reported to Modern.az from BEU that Rector Yaqub Piriyev, speaking at the meeting, stated that internationalization is one of the priority directions in the university's Strategic Development Program and that purposeful steps have been taken in this direction in recent years. He noted that cooperation with foreign higher education institutions has been expanded, the number of dual degree and exchange programs has been increased, participation in international projects has been strengthened, and at the same time, institutional mechanisms have been formed to attract foreign students.
The Rector noted that currently, foreign students from 40 countries are studying at the university, and in recent years, their number, as well as their geographical representation, has doubled. This dynamic also indicates the strengthening of the university's position in the international education arena.
“Adaptation programs for foreign students, academic advisory services, the expansion of English-language specialties, the acquisition of international accreditations, as well as the development of modern campus infrastructure, are also key components of the internationalization policy, and the goal is not only to increase the number of students but also to foster a multicultural academic environment,” the Rector stated.
Emphasizing that 34 foreign students selected within the framework of the Heydar Aliyev International Education Grant program began studying at BEU starting from the current academic year, Yaqub Piriyev stated that this initiative contributes to the international promotion of Azerbaijan's higher education system. The Rector also noted that safe and comfortable living conditions have been created for foreign students in BEU's modern dormitory complexes, and that administrative and social support mechanisms are being implemented to facilitate students' adaptation.
In their speeches, the foreign students stated that the university's international relations structures consistently showed interest in them, and that the issues they raised were resolved. At the same time, they put forward several proposals.
Finally, Yaqub Piriyev gave relevant instructions regarding the proposals put forward at the meeting, as well as the strengthening of student-oriented projects related to foreign students.
