In the last 5 years, the number of alimony cases has increased by approximately 10 thousand, and in 2025, there were 141 thousand alimony cases in proceedings.
Modern.az reports that this was stated by Deputy Minister of Justice Toghrul Huseynov at a public hearing on the topic of “Gender Equality in Legislation: Achievements and Prospects”.
The Deputy Minister stated that in 2025, a protocol on administrative offense was drawn up regarding 4299 debtors who evaded alimony payments. Of these, in 3083 cases, administrative penalties were applied by the courts, and 2344 people were administratively arrested. Also, in 286 cases, a submission was made for criminal prosecution, and in 235 cases, criminal proceedings were initiated.
